Know Before You Go

Rainbow Springs is popular, especially during warm weather, weekends, and holidays, so planning ahead is important.

As of 2026, Rainbow Springs State Park requires day-use reservations for visitors entering the park. Parking can also be limited during busy periods.

If you are bringing your own paddleboard into the park, research the launch area before you arrive. The park notes that privately owned paddlecraft launched from the headsprings area must be carried approximately 1,800 feet from the parking area because there is no vehicle access directly to the river.

Rainbow River is also an aquatic preserve, which means protecting the water matters. Certain disposable food and beverage containers are prohibited, so check current park and river rules while packing for the day.

Make a Day of It

Pack sunscreen, plenty of water in an allowed reusable container, a hat, and something waterproof for your keys and phone. Check the weather before leaving and give yourself more time than you think you'll need.
